Our Mat Training certification course takes place over two weekends and features 28 hours of hands-on class time. Students will cover over 50 exercises and variations, which will allow the instructor to intensify or modify exercises for students as needed. There is also a thorough anatomy review and a module on business practices for becoming a successful mat instructor.
Pre-requisites: No pre-requisite is needed, but it will help the student considerably if they have a personal training or fitness background and a good grounding of anatomy. We recommend the book “Trail Guide to the Body” by Andrew Biel as our anatomy text.
Requirements for certification: Students will need to attend the full two weekend course and complete 20 Observation Hours, 20 Self-Practice Hours (10 before the end of the course), and 20 Practice Teaching Hours (five before the end of the course).
Exam: The exam is part of the tuition costs and is scheduled for approximately eight weeks after the last classroom session. If the student fails, they may retest at a later date for a nominal fee.
Materials: All materials are included in the cost of the class. Students are required to purchase their own “Trail Guide to the Body” text book prior to commencement of the class.
Cost: The cost is $399 which includes all training and mentoring. Modern Pilates may offer an Early Bird Discount at their discretion.
